Nicolae Tarla is the author of Hands-On CRM Customization with Microsoft Dynamics 365 – Third Edition, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey.
Nicolae: The writing journey started from the need to order a large library of documentation. While documenting all that material, a book was born. Writing the books just came naturally.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Nicolae: This title took probably the longest, at over a year. Some platform changes required several re-writes of various chapters.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Nicolae: The book outline was based on day to day experience in implementing the platform to many customers, and training new resources to become part of the implementation teams as well as clients.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Nicolae: The rapid pace of evolution for the platform required several re-writes. Just when you thought you’re getting close, the target shifted again.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Nicolae: Lear, learn, learn. Technology evolves at an increasingly rapid pace. If you’re not ready to keep on learning, might as well hang a sing saying “I quit!”.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Nicolae: The best way to keep on top is to use everything that’s new. Allocate time in the day, every day, for learning something new.
