Interview with Kathrin Melcher

Kathrin Melcher is the author of the book Codeless Deep Learning, we got the chance to sit down with her and find out more about her experience of writing with Packt.

Q: What was your motivation for writing this book?

Kathrin: We wanted to offer a possibility to people who are not code savvy to still implement successful deep learning solutions.

Q: How long did it take you to write the book?

Kathrin: 8 months.

Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Kathrin: There is no other book about codeless deep learning with KNIME Analytics Platform.

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Kathrin: Deep learning technologies are flexible and powerful, yet not sufficiently easy to be consumed by less expert coders. We think that it will be more often used by non code experts and therefore the request for codeless tools will increase.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Kathrin: Not getting feedback shortly after submitting a chapter stacked up a lot of work for the last month.

Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?

Kathrin: By reading other blog posts.

Q. Do you have a blog that readers can follow?

Kathrin: https://www.knime.com/blog

Q. Can you share any blogs, websites and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?

Kathrin: https://medium.com, https://towardsdatascience.com
