Kamil Mrzygłód is the author of Learn Azure Administration, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey…
Kamil: I was contacted by one of the acquisition editors from Packt. They proposed me writing a book about Azure prior to my technical experience.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Kamil: With proper regime it’s a matter of several weeks including preparing the actual content, introducing changes after reviews and final polishing.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Kamil: My research was mostly related to similar books, which might cover the same topics as I did. It’s a matter of spending a day or two browsing titles describing similar topics.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Kamil: Personally no, but I believe you need to really stick to your schedule to avoid rushing on the content. If you committed to deadlines, try your best not to exceed them.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Kamil: Remember, that a book is just a guideline – it will never replace practicing a subject with your own hands. Also try to find a few topics that really suit you and become an expert – it’s much better than learning everything on basic level.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Kamil: Side-projects, RSS feeds, trainings – the more active you have to be in your domain, the easier it is to be updated on any changes.
Q. How would you describe you author journey with Packt? Would you recommend Packt to aspiring authors?
Kamil: All the people working with you on your title are 100% professionals. If you have never had a chance to work on a book, it’s the best path to take as it will help you understand the whole process and focus on delivering the content.
