Joakim Wassberg is the author of Computer Programming for Absolute Beginners, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey.
Joakim: I was contacted and asked if I was interested to write this book. At first I hesitated, but then I decided to give it a try, and I am happy I did.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Joakim: 9 months.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Joakim: I have read several books, visited tons of web pages, and looked at many videos. I already had a good understanding of the topic as I have been teaching it for 30 years, but I needed to come up with ideas for how to best present concepts and techniques in this format.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Joakim: Covid-19! I got sick, but Packt backed me up and extended my time. I felt all the support I needed, especially from my editor.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Joakim: Be curious and try out new things. Don’t give up before you understand.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Joakim: I am constantly reading blogs, listening to pod casts, and view videos on the topic of programming. I see it as my job as an instructor to accumulate lots of information and then summarize the important parts in a good and clear way.
Q. How would you describe your author journey with Packt? Would you recommend Packt to aspiring authors?
Joakim: I felt so much back-up and understanding for all my issues and questions. I can absolutely recommend Packt to anyone who wants to try out writing a book.
