Interview with Avinash Vallarapu on PostgreSQL 13 Cookbook.

Q: What is/are your specialist tech area(s)?

Avinash: PostgreSQL, Database Migrations, PLPGSQL, Python, Golang.

Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?

Avinash: I have heard good experiences from some of my friends who have got their books published through Packt.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Avinash: I did research for about 2 months before beginning the book.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Avinash: None of them were critical, it was a nice experience.

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Avinash: The technologies discussed in this book are going to be the ones that will rule the database world in the next 5 to 10 years.

Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Avinash: This book is more focussed towards Open Source tools and extensions instead of focussing towards a specific commercial solution or a solution build by a specific company. This book introduces several approaches and solutions that give the ability to build an Exterprise Grade PostgreSQL using Open source tools and extensions.

Q: What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away from the book with?

Avinash: Building an Enterprise Grade PostgreSQL.

Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?

Avinash: Start with Open Source and explore Open Source technologies and avoid unnecessary vendor lock-ins for a solution that is available through Open Source.

Q: Do you have a blog that readers can follow?

Q. Can you share any blogs, websites and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?

Q. What is that one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?

Avinash: Plan your schedule well in advance.
