Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?
Bernd: Packt approached me to write a book on Terraform for Google Cloud. I thought it would be an interesting experience writing a book, and it certainly was.

Bernd: I already was very familiar with Google Cloud and Terraform having worked with it for several years. Thus, the main research was to deepend my knowledge.

Bernd: I was unsure whether I had the right technical experience to write the book but became more confident as I progressed in the book.
Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?
Bernd: Google Cloud has the smallest market segment share of the three major cloud providers but has the largest growth rates. I see that trend continuing for some time. Terraform is the most popular Infrastructure as Code tool but new tools such as Pulumi.
Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?
Bernd: This is the first Terraform book that focuses solely on Google Cloud. All the other books focus on AWS or Azure.

Bernd: For me, the journey was pretty smooth. It did help that I don’t have a full-time job, so I had more time than people that need to juggle writing a book with their regular job.
Q. Would you like to share your social handles? If so, please share.
