Interview with Ashish Prajapati

Ashish Prajapati is the author of Cloud Computing Concepts and Tech Analogies, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.

Q: What is/are your specialist tech area(s)?

Ashish: Cloud Computing.

Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?

Ashish: I wanted to explain technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Ashish: I deliver technical training every day on AWS Cloud, so the thought of sharing the information in the easiest way was always there, therefor I didn’t have to do any specific research.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Ashish: As we were three authors of this book, coordination was a big challenge. We had derived a process of “rule of 2” which allowed us to go forward (or reject) any ideas related to the book if 2 out of 3 agreed. Also, we started selecting a chapter owner on a round-robin basis so that person could divide tasks and review activities.

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Ashish: We talked about Cloud Computing on AWS in our book. And the trend for its adoption is just going upward.

Q. Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Ashish: Two reasons – 1st – We have used day-to-day examples/scenarios to explain technical concepts. While learning technical concepts through analogies readers will find it very easy to remember and relate technology to their daily life.
2nd – We focused on the “why” of a technology rather than “what” and “how”. Sometimes people just learn technology without having a focus on broader focus on “why” in the first place this technology exists. “Why” someone will be interested in using it. We tried to cover that aspect.

Q. What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away from the book with?

Ashish: Readers will be able to see and understand things differently once they go through this book. And will be able to connect technology to their daily life scenarios/activities.

Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?

Ashish: I suggest readers understand the business problems you plan to solve using technology. And also understand its use cases of it.

Q. Do you have a blog that readers can follow?

Ashish: I don’t publish blogs as of now, but readers can find some resources through my LinkedIn posts, which I regularly share.

Q. Can you share any blogs, websites, and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?

Ashish: I would recommend using AWS Skillbuilder to learn more about cloud computing and related technologies.

Q. How would you describe your author journey with Packt? Would you recommend Packt to aspiring authors?

Ashish: AWS SkillBuilder to learn more about cloud computing and related technologies.
