Christian Cote is the author of the book ETL with Azure Cookbook, Hands-On Data Warehousing with Azure Data Factory and SQL Server 2017 Integration Services Cookbook. We got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Christian: 4 months
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Christian: Not much research. I am a Microsoft MVP, so I have access at all the new technologies.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Christian: The main challenge was to write a book while working 45 hours a week.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Christian: If we want to be relevant as IT professionals, we should at least read one book per year on new technologies. It is now easier than ever now to learn with Linkedin, Youtube videos, etc. Always try to keep up with the pace of evolving technology.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Christian:Same answer as above plus try to certificate yourself in new technologies like Databricks or Azure Cloud.
Q. Do you have a blog that readers can follow?

Q. Can you share any blogs, websites and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?
Christian: The best website would be Microsoft Azure website. They have lots of training materials available for all the services they provide. Databricks have also self paced trainings.
