Sebastian Moreno is the author of Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Developer – Exam Guide, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: What is/are your specialist tech area(s)?
Sebastian: Cloud Computing
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?
Sebastian: I was contacted by Linkedin because I normally share information about Google Cloud. My main motivation was to share knowledge about Google Cloud with more people.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Sebastian: Fortunately, i had already de knowledge about the book that i wanted to write. However, i needed to research about similar books and the current state of art. I spent like 2 weeks before beginning the book.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Sebastian: I think the most difficult challenge was keep the pace of writing. I had a good pace in the first 5 chapters, then i have some problems with the delivery of the other chapters. Fortunately we made a recovery plan in order to achieve the deadlines and finally i was able to deliver all chapters.
Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?
Sebastian: Cloud computing is actually used by a lot of companies. There are also a lot of companies that want to use or migrate their workloads to the Cloud. Both are powerful reasons to learn about cloud computing.
Q. Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?
Sebastian: This book had not only theoretical knowledge about cloud computing. It has also hands-on labs, useful links, best practices and recommendations.
Q. What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away from the book with?
Sebastian: I recommend to make the hands-on labs for each chapter in order the get the most of the benefits of the book.
Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Sebastian: Create an account and take advantage of the free tier of the cloud providers in order to practice

Sebastian: Absolutely a good experience. The team help you along all the journey. I never felt alone in the process.
Q. What is that one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?
Sebastian: Writing everyday a little bit and don’t wait to write the perfect sentence. Just start writing.
