Prasenjit: I am Packt veteran author and writing books for Packt since 2013. As part of the Oracle’s Cloud Engineering team, I saw that Oracle’s Sales people and other enthusiastic people were struggling to understand basics and also some of the advanced topics. Thus the proposal of this book came together.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Prasenjit: I was part of the engineering team itself, so did not do much research on it.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Prasenjit: Yes, significantly because of the COVID and it’s severity in UK last year. Nothing could have been done, but thanks to the Packt team that I have been given extra time to deal with personal ordeal.

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Prasenjit: OCI is most promising technology, so I see OCI is going to capture a good market share in the near future.

Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Prasenjit: There is not much in terms of competition and even though it has some of them, those came from mostly people out of Oracle.

Q. What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away from the book with?

Prasenjit: How OCI has built the Generation 2 cloud and how one can architect the solution on OCI’s IaaS platform.

Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?

Prasenjit: Learn the basics of OCI Cloud Services to get the fundamentals right and curate some great solutions on top of it.

Q. Do you have a blog that readers can follow?

Prasenjit: blog.kube-mesh.io/

Q. Can you share any blogs, websites and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?

Prasenjit: blogs.oracle.com/developers/

Q. How did you organize, plan, and prioritize your work and write the book?

Prasenjit: I used mostly the weekend to write the book

Q. What is that one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?

Prasenjit: Don’t be afraid, just write, and there are people out there to help.
