Jose Manuel Ortega is the author of Mastering Python for Networking and Security – Second Edition, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.

Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey.

Jose Manuel Ortega: Started working in 2018 with the first edition of this book. Also I have been co-author of the book Learning Python Networking-2nd edition.

Q. What was your motivation for writing this book? How long did it take you to write the book?

Jose Manuel Ortega: 7 months.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Jose Manuel Ortega: Developing a technical book has many research years and learning from other authors.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Jose Manuel Ortega: I have rewritten many contents and updated examples.

Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?

Jose Manuel Ortega: The most important thing is that they practice with technology and take advantage of the learning process.

Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech? Do you have a blog that readers can follow?
