Angelica Lo Duca is the author of Comet for Data Science; we got the chance to sit down with her and find out more about her experience of writing with Packt.
Q: What are your specialist tech areas?
Angelica: Data Science and Web Applications.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?
Angelica: Someone from Packt contacted me. I like writing and learning new things. I think that the best way to learn something is by writing about it.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Angelica: I searched for books, blog articles, and code examples. I started soon, and I kept studying while writing. I also contacted some experts that helped me.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Angelica: No I didn’t.
Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?
Angelica: I think that model monitoring is very important for the future because it will allow data scientists to move their projects from prototypes to production.
Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?
Angelica: This book is the first book that talks specifically about Comet. To the best of my knowledge, there are no other books on the market about Comet.
Q: What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away with from the book?
Angelica: Deploying data science projects is possible and not so complex. You only need to have the right tools to do it!
Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Angelica: Practice, practice, and practice again. Anyway, I think that the best tip is to follow experts on social media, who give direction on the new challenges and perspectives on a given topic.

Q. What are your favorite tech journals? How do you keep yourself up to date on tech?
Angelica: Usually, I keep up to date by following famous people on social media as well as reading books and reading blog posts.
Q. How did you organize, plan, and prioritize your work and write the book?
Angelica: Firstly, I studied the topic of a chapter, then I developed the practical examples, and finally, I wrote the text.
Q. What is that one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?
Angelica: You should keep in mind the deadlines and make sure to respect them. I think that considering deadlines could help you work.
